Gradiator is a simple tool to generate randomly dithered gradients. Dithered gradients are color slides (gradients) where the pixels are slightly scattered around to effectively remove color banding. Most drawing packages and other pieces of software only generate linear gradients, which are much faster but the resulting

images often have visible color banding if the gradient is applied to a large area.

Gradiator currently does three kinds of gradients: horizontal, vertical and radial. When creating a radial dither, you can change the center point of the gradient by clicking on the Preview area with the left button of your mouse. Any other button will reset the gradient's center point to the center of the area.

You can save a gradient as an image in a few different formats. You can also optionally generate and apply a gradient as your Windows wallpaper image by clicking the "Apply bg" button. (This will save the background s 'desktop.bmp' in your Windows directory.)
